The Five Mobility Podcasts You Should be Listening To [2019 Update]

I love podcasts. Whether I’m listening on long car rides or while I’m walking the dog, there’s a podcast fit for every occasion. And I have a lot of favorites—everything from art heist detectives, fictional disappearances of an entire city’s residents, untold stories of the world’s largest brands, and the tales from the wild, wild west of Reddit.

About a year and a half ago I wrote a post on the three best mobility podcasts and lately that post has been making its rounds again on the internet. Well my horizons have expanded and I’m listening to more podcasts than ever so I’ve revised my list to a whopping FIVE!

To get a well-rounded narrative around what’s happening in automotive tech, new mobility innovations, and urban mobility, here’s what you should be listening to:

Driven

I forever will be promoting Driven, the publication I launched and managed during my time as Director of MICHauto. The Driven podcast captures and tells the stories of how the automotive and tech industries are changing the way the world moves. The podcast provides additional insight through exclusive audio interviews with industry stakeholders, leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and more.

Autonocast

Autonocast is a weekly show discussing the latest in transportation technology in what the hosts call a “zero BS conversation.” Hosted by Kirsten Korosec of Techcrunch, Alex Roy formerly of The Drive, and Ed Niedermeyer of Automotive News, the podcast covers automation, autonomy, self-driven cars and trucks, electrification, mobility and the politics and policy around the future of transportation for an unbiased (of their employers) look at the industry.

CoMotion

CoMotion was formerly on my list as LA CoMotion, which now seems to have updated their branding to be location agnostic. CoMotion focuses on bringing together the new world of the urban mobility during and takes a look at the revolution that is set to transform every city in the world, large and small.

Shift

Created by Automotive News, Shift takes an optimistic yet skeptical eye at the new tech and business models planned for the automotive industry. Weekly episodes cover a recap of the news of the week and an interview with a leading industry news maker.

Micromobility

Thinking beyond the standard automobiles, Micromobility explores the disruption to urban transport that comes from new electric, lightweight utility vehicles. Using the history of computing as a framework, the podcast unpacks how e-bikes, scooters, and more will change how people get around cities and interact with the communities around them.

Do you have a favorite mobility and future transportation podcast? I’m always looking for something new to listen to so leave a comment here on what else I should be listening to.
